CO Update – The role of the group
Today I’ve provided members with my thoughts on what the role of the group is here at CFA.
There has been a lot of discussion recently about the role of each group, and I believe it’s important for us to look back to where the origin of the groups began because the same principles still apply.
The fundamental principle from our forefathers is that our brigades can achieve better outcomes when they work together, particularly on the fire ground.
Our forefathers also believed the brigades themselves should dictate the role of the group.
We need to use the knowledge of the brigades to determine how each group can best support the delivery of our services to the Victorian community, whether this is in relation to community safety initiatives, fuel reduction burns, fundraising, or indeed operations.
