Community meeting at Epping
A successful night at Epping last night with around 150 people attending the community meeting regarding the Kalkallo-Donnybrook Road fire.
Incident Controller John Deering ran the meeting which gave the group a better understanding of what happened and what improvements could be made in the future.
IC Deering said he was pleased with the way the meeting went and hopes everyone left with more information than what they came in with.
“There were many confused and scared residents out there so the community meeting was a good opportunity to raise any concerns and discuss solutions as a group,” he said.
“There is no doubt this fire was a huge wake up call to several residents in the area and hopefully they now understand the importance of being prepared, having a proper fire plan and practising it.”
People at the community meeting were given a range of materials to take away with them including the Fire Ready Kit.
Representatives from several other emergency services were also on hand to answer any questions.
