Community to vote on Bellbrae CFA
Almost 40 members from Torquay brigade gathered in the neighbouring township of Bellbrae on 16 July to warmly welcome CFA’s handover of the newly-constructed Bellbrae Fire Station.
Bellbrae has traditionally operated as a satellite of Torquay brigade, but on 29 July the community will vote on whether to establish a standalone fire brigade in the town.
The proposal has been put forward because of increased infrastructure and residential growth in Bellbrae.
CFA Barwon South West Asset Maintenance Coordinator Tim Humpage said the builder, BMI Developments, "had done a great job" and the new station had been well finished, was on time and on budget.”
Mr Humpage took Torquay members for a tour of the $498,000 building and explained the features of the station and outlined key aspects of its Operation and Maintenance Manual.
Later in the evening, Torquay brigade celebrated the handover of the station with an informal house warming and barbecue.
