Cranbourne East scrubby
A grass and scrub fire started at the end of Thunderbolt Drive in Cranbourne East near a new housing estate.
The fire started just before 4:00pm on Thursday 3rd Jan.
Captain Paul Hardy from Narre Warren brigade was the Incident Controller and crews worked hard to prevent the fire from reaching houses only 50 metres away. Three pumpers were responded to protect assets.
One fence suffered minor damage but no houses were affected. Many home owners used hoses and buckets to wet their lawns down to stop embers from starting other fires.
CFA crews were on scene from Cranbourne, Skye, Hallam, Hampton Park, Clyde, Devon Meadows, Berwick, Narre Warren and Narre Warren North.
Crews were blacking out the scene until 8:00pm and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
