On Friday 21 February, Boaz Herszfeld, Executive Director of Creswick Woollen Mills, presented a cheque for $500 to Ron Leary the Group Officer of the Bogong Group. Creswick Woollen Mills are great supporters of CFA and make regular donations to local brigades and groups around the state.

The previous Saturday, Bogong Group was given the opportunity to hold a BBQ fundraiser and information session outside the Creswick Woollen Mills shop in Beechworth.

This was a great opportunity to raise funds as well as remind the locals they still need to be fire ready. There was plenty of interest from Beechworth residents as well as visitors to the town especially in light of the Kilmore/Wallan fires the previous weekend," said Ron.

Ron also thanked Keith Harmes and members of Beechworth brigade, along with Bogong Deputy Group Officers (DGOs) for their assistance on the day.

"The money raised from the BBQ and the generous donation from Creswick Woollen Mills will go towards a shed at the Bogong Group headquarters in Kiewa, as well as maintenance of its field command vehicles (FCVs) to assist us in our firefighting efforts," said Ron.

Creswick Woollen Mills, in conjunction with CFA, developed the world class personal protection blanket which is kept on all CFA trucks and vehicles. The blanket is made with a unique blend of high quality wool and aramid, the strongest commercially-available fibre. This helps give optimal protection (within practical possibilities) to our members. These blankets are also available for the public and members to purchase for their own use.

The Bogong Group comprises 14 brigades in District 24. The group area covers brigades from Kiewa in the North, Gundowring in the east, Falls Creek to the south and Beechworth to the west. The Bogong Group currently has four field command vehicles housed at Mt Beauty, Tawonga and Beechworth.
