Crews rescue man and puppy from mine shaft

CFA was called to reports of a man and a puppy trapped in a mine shaft on Parkinsons Road at Launching Place at 2.25pm on Sunday, 7 June.

Nine CFA vehicles from Dandenong, Wandin, Hallam, Monbulk, Hoddles Creek and Little Yarra brigades responded to the incident.

The man and 10-month-old puppy were located 10 metres below ground in an old mine shaft.

Crews conducted a joint-agency high angle rescue operation alongside SES members using equipment from Hallam, Dandenong and Monbulk brigades.

The incident was under control at 4.29pm and the man and puppy were extricated and handed over to Ambulance Victoria.

A stop was issued on the incident at 4.48pm.
