Dandenong Ranges family fun day
A group of Dandenong Ranges fire brigades is joining forces this Sunday 3 February, 10am to 4pm, for a day of fun for the whole family.
Olinda, Kalorama-Mt Dandenong and Sassafras-Ferny Creek Volunteer Fire Brigades, along with other emergency services, are inviting the community to join them for the Ridge Top Brigades Family Fun and Information Day at the Olinda Hall in Olinda.
The event will be a great opportunity for people to come and meet the dedicated members from a range of emergency service groups including Victoria Police, SES, Red Cross and St John’s Ambulance and of course CFA.
Brigade Secretary & Community Engagement & Education Coordinator, Elissa Jans, said the event is a great way for people to see how not only CFA, but all emergency services work together to assist the community, while also having lots of fun.
“CFA members will be on hand to chat about a wide range of fire related issues, answer questions, share local knowledge and give advice about how the community can better plan and prepare during the bush fire season,” she said.
Some of the things covered will include Bushfire Survival Plans, demonstrations of fire safety equipment, CFA volunteering information and visual Burns Table demonstrations of how an actual bush fire would behave and travel through that particular area at 12pm and 2pm.
There will also be lots of fun and entertainment for the kids too including competitions and giveaways, jumping castle, giant slide, face painting, free balloon animals, the latest fire trucks and other emergency service vehicles to touch and play with.
“Little Lex the Helicopter will also be there along with the Captain Koala and April show, Little Pat the fire truck, Beeper the Smoke Alarm and of course plenty to eat and drink. We hope to see you there!” Ms Jans said.
