A Victorian team of 64 staff and volunteers from air operations, incident management and three strike teams from CFA, MFB, DSE and Parks Victoria was deployed yesterday to assist their Tasmanian colleagues with the extreme fire conditions.

CFA firefighters and support staff from all CFA metropolitan regions, Gippsland and Grampians are in Tasmania to provide much needed assistance to our fire service colleagues and the Tasmanian community. We expect the deployment will continue until the end of next week; however this is all dependent on conditions and will be regularly re-assessed.

I ask all CFA members both here in Victoria and those deployed to Tasmania to keep doing the excellent work that you do, and most of all to stay safe on the fireground and keep hydrated in this dry, hot weather.

As the heat continues all across Victoria and most of southern Australia, I thank all CFA members for the outstanding job you have been doing, responding to and suppressing the many grass fires over the past week so quickly and efficiently.

Thank you for protecting the lives and property of our communities, even in these most uncomfortable conditions.

Minister Ryan's media release is available to view here.

Keep up the great work.
