Exponential! That’s the word Diamond Creek Fire Brigade is using to describe the growth in its CFA Sunday since 2011.

In that first year of CFA Sunday, 10 people visited the Diamond Creek Fire Brigade. Last year, 100 people visited. This year, the Brigade had close to 400 visitors! While the growth in visitor numbers is not really exponential (in the true sense of the word), the Brigade is very happy and proud of its efforts for the day.

Highlights of the Diamond Creek CFA Sunday included; the attendance of one of the Mobile Education (Bus) units, Plenty Valley FM broadcasting live from the station and live fire extinguisher and fire blanket training for adult members of the public. A host of other great activities for adults and children were also put on, while the local Community Bakery provided delicious treats for the occasion. The Brigade also put on a demonstration of a simulated car fire and rescue, as well as running a fire safety art competition for primary school age children. Lots of safety information was handed out to those who wanted to know a bit more, while approximately 80 young faces were
painted by two of our very talented volunteers.

Within a couple of hours of the event finishing, photos and posts were appearing on the Brigade Facebook page expressing gratitude towards the volunteers for putting on a great day. Despite the rain, everyone had loads of fun and community members went away with fire safety knowledge too – what more could anyone ask for?
