The Digital Radio Upgrade Project (DRUP) have started the training phase of the rollout of the new digital network to outer metro districts.
Twelve District 8 volunteer and staff members undertook a train the trainer session facilitated by Operations Officer Sean Kerr.
This is the first of three sessions for District 8. Districts 7, 13 and 14 will begin their train the trainer sessions in the coming months.
Operations Officer Kerr said that this session marked a major milestone in the project.
“With the digital radio network build well underway and programmed to come on-line in District 8 in late November, it is important to have our volunteers and staff members across the improvements to our current network. These include new digital dispatch channels, Vicfire allocated fire ground channel and District training channels.”
