CFA fireys were dealt a supersized task this morning when they were called to battle a blaze at the Dingley Village McDonald's (9 August).

CFA and MFB crews were called to the scene at the corner of Braeside Rd and Centre Dandenong Rd at 8.30am.

Operations Officer Don Wilkie said CFA and MFB firefighters worked together as a team to control the blaze.

“Crews tackled the fire which was in the roof space of the restaurant,” Mr Wilkie said.

“The firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze through an internal attack.

“Fortunately no one was injured and all occupants were evacuated promptly."

Incident Controller Mick Rowell said they had some insider knowledge from one of their very own members Jason Petrovich who is the Manager of the Dingley Village McDonald's.

“Jason’s knowledge was crucial in the firefight this morning,” said Mr Rowell.

“He was able to assist with alerting crews to power sources and manholes which allowed us to contain the fire in the roof space.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were also in attendance.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

The Hamburgler was considered a suspect but has since been cleared.

Four CFA trucks from Dandenong, Springvale and Frankston attended the incident alongside MFB trucks from Mentone, Oakleigh and Clayton fire stations.
