CFA is calling on residents to keep an eye out for rogue fundraisers who are contacting residents for donations to buy equipment for those affected by cyclone Debbie in Queensland.
CFA State Agency Commander Tony O’Day said members of the public had reported a phone call of this nature to CFA.
“We have reports of people being approached by phone for donations from someone claiming to be raising funds for CFA,” he said.
“This is categorically not the case.
“CFA does not undertake unsolicited fundraising activities.
“Residents should report this kind of behaviour to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission via Scamwatch.”
