Dromana shop catches fire

CFA crews attended a structure fire at a fish and chip shop on Point Nepean Rd this morning.

The fire appears to have started in the back of the shop and spread through the roof to two shops either side.

District 8 Rostered Duty Officer Sean Kerr said firefighters had to lift parts of the roof up to reach the fire.

“The roof was one of the main challenges in getting this fire under control,” Mr Kerr said.

“It took 25 firefighters about 20 minutes to get it under control.”

The back of the shop and roof have been extensively damaged, as well as smoke damage throughout the shops either side.

There was no one inside at the time and paramedics were not required to treat anyone.

Police attended for traffic control.

Fire investigators will work to determine the cause.
