Duverney has a new station
On a typical winter’s day, Duverney brigade celebrated the opening of their new station with the community on Sunday 18 August 2013.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services, The Hon Kim Wells, officially opened the new station. The attendees included Minister for Public Transport and Roads the Hon Terry Mulder, CFA Board Member Don Robertson, The Chief Officer Euan Ferguson, CFA CEO Mick Bourke, Colac Otway Shire Mayor Lyn Russell, CFA Barwon South West Regional Director Bob Barry, Operations Manager for District 6 Nigel Parsons and Duverney Captain Barry White.
The day began in the new station where Regional Director Bob Barry welcomed everybody.
Don Robertson spoke about the importance of new fire stations in the District and acknowledged the wonderful efforts CFA volunteers contribute to their communities.
Barry made a speech and thanked everyone for their involvement in making this day so successful. A special thanks went out to the brigade members and their families for their continuing support. Ian Nelson then entertained everyone with some stories of the Duverney brigade.
Everyone then enjoyed a delicious lunch which was prepared by the local Bowls Club.
The day was considered by all to be a huge success.
