Early morning unit fire in Warrenheip
In the early hours of this morning (22 August) five CFA crews were called to the scene of a unit fire on Mahars Road in Warrenheip.
Crews were called to the scene at 5.20am.
CFA Rostered Duty Officer Kade Dowie said due to the nature of the building, the fire triggered all the smoke alarms in surrounding units.
“Crews assisted to evacuate approximately 20 residents however the evacuation was more of a precaution,” he said.
“The fire is believed to have started in the bedroom and crews did a good job at isolating the fire to one room.
“It was lucky that no one was home at the time.”
The fire was called under control just before 6am.
A fire investigator is looking into the cause of the fire however it is not believed to be suspicious.
Five CFA trucks from Ballarat City, Ballarat and Mt Warrenheip attended the incident.
Police and Ambulance were also required to attend the incident.
