Easter weekend activities
The volunteering spirit is truly alive and well at CFA and it's remarkable to see our members standing on street corners collecting money and conducting their own fundraisers for the Appeal, when they already give so much for their communities.
Much like CFA, the Good Friday Appeal relies on the generosity and goodwill of thousands of members. Our members consistently step up to the plate year after year and have raised over $21 million to date for the Royal Children's Hospital, to buy medical equipment and fund research projects and scholarships.
While it's difficult to individually recognise all the work happening across the State it's great to see brigades shaking tins on the roadside as well as doorknocking, getting involved in fun runs, setting up stalls at community shows, taking part in parades, running raffles and, of course, taking part in the upcoming 24-hour relay alongside MFB.
Thanks to brigade members from Hoppers Crossing, Werribee, Truganina, Wyndham Vale and Point Cook who attended the official launch of the 2012 Good Friday Appeal. You can visit goodfridayappeal.com.au to donate or take part, and you can also view our thank you to members on Youtube.
While so many of our members will be shaking coin tins on the roadside across Easter, some may be in the unenviable position of attending road incidents. So I urge everyone to take care of yourselves and others when on the roads this weekend.
Make sure your vehicles are roadworthy, buckle up, don't drive when tired, stick to the speed limit and enjoy the holiday!
I wish you all a happy and safe Easter weekend.
