Eastlink crane rollover
CFA crews are working to secure a crane which has overturned on Eastlink at Keysborough this morning.
CFA Duty Officer Andrew Turner said a mobile crane appears to have gone over the edge of the road and rolled down an embankment.
“The crane has ended up on its side and the driver has managed to get himself out before emergency crews arrived,” he said.
“It appears the incident may have been the result of a mechanical failure but that will be subject to an investigation.”
The accident occurred around 8.30am near the intersection of Cheltenham Road.
One southbound lane of Eastlink remains closed.
CFA will use heavy haulage equipment to bring the crane upright.
The driver, in his 20s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Three crews from Dandenong attended.
