The Edenhope Fire Brigade has been handed the keys to a brand new CFA Tanker.

The Edenhope Fire Brigade has been handed the keys to a brand new CFA Tanker.

CFA Chairperson Claire Higgins presented Captain Dean Brook with the keys to the new tanker on Sunday 21st June 2015.

The tanker is a four-wheel-drive crew cab medium tanker and it will support the brigade’s pumper when responding to fire calls.

The Tanker incorporates the latest CFA safety feature such as spray deluge system and drop down fire protection curtains in the cabin.

The Tanker cost $360,000 and was funded through CFA’s replacement vehicle capital works program.

Each Medium Tanker project includes a cab chassis and body with a diesel powered pump. The body is mounted on a Hino GT 500 1322 cab chassis of 4WD (4x4) turbo charged diesel engine with six speed manual transmission and two speed transfer case (4x4). Thermaguard radiant heat protection curtains fitted to all cabin windows vehicle/crew spray protection system with switch activation from cabin and crew tray area.

The body and cab chassis conform to CFA operational standards. The vehicle is registered to carry five personnel including the driver and is designed primarily for a bushfire fire fighting role.

Edenhope Fire Brigade currently has 50 Volunteer members, 32 fire-fighters and 17 brigade members.
