Emergency Services & Community Day
This Sunday 17 November, the Langwarrin Fire Brigade will be hosting an Emergency Services and Community Day to showcase the efforts of the Langwarrin Fire Brigade, CFA and our partner emergency service organisations.
The brigade has been hosting events for the past 10 years and the last event held in 2011 attracted over 3500 members of the public who were educated and entertained by displays from the CFA, SES, Ambulance Victoria, Life Saving Victoria (Gunnamatta Club),Victoria Police and the Department of Environment and Primary Industries.
This year the event will be opened by the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, the Honourable Kim Wells, who will also be launching Fire Action Week. Displays this year include CFA appliances from Langwarrin, Skye, Baxter, Dandenong, Pearcedale, Frankston, Somers and Westernport Group. Our partner agencies will also be attending and will be undertaking displays and handing our information.
Frankston SES will be undertaking two joint road rescue demonstrations with the Langwarrin Rescue Unit, Victoria Police and the Sherriff's Dept. will be providing information and displays on road safety enforcement and policing, St Johns Ambulance will be providing information on improving you first aid
skills & Gunnamatta Life Saving Club will be undertaking CPR demonstrations on the customs made beach which the kids can also build sand castles on.
Hastings Volunteer Coast Guard will be educating and talking to the public about boat safety, Search & Rescue Dogs Australia will be on hand to showcase the amazing talents of their dogs and handlers, Dept. of Environment & Primary Industries will be demonstration the Fire Table and giving members of the opportunity to experience a bushfire first hand (all be it on a small scale).
Road Safe South East will be in attendance with valuable information and safety tips for younger drivers and those just embarking on the driving experience, the 1st Langwarrin Scout Group will be baking bush damper all day. Food & Drink are available on site with an Ice Cream Van and coffee vendor. The Brigade Auxiliary will have the BBQs running most of the day so while the kids are playing on the vintage fire truck you can grab a sausage in bread or a hamburger.
The day opens at 9.30am with the official launch by the Minister and concludes at 3pm.
