Epping house fire
The cause of a house fire at Epping will be investigated.
CFA and MFB were called to the incident on Scarborough Road about 8.40am today (July 16) where the rear of the single-storey brick house was fully alight.
It took just under an hour to bring the blaze under control and the house has been extensively damaged.
Crews remain at the scene blacking out and fire investigators will attend later today.
A man, woman and baby were at home at the time of the fire but escaped uninjured.
A 14-year-old girl, who doesn't live at the house, has been taken to hospital for observation after suffering shock.
CFA Operations Officer Brian Wright said the house was located opposite a school. He said while there were no evacuations, students in the buildings closest to the house were relocated as a precaution.
Four trucks from Epping, South Morang and Wollert attended the incident, plus two trucks from MFB.
