The 2015 Eureka Stair Climb was once again well attended by CFA with over 60 members climbing the gruelling 88 levels to raise money for the event charity partners, Whitelion and Interplast.

The state emergency service organisations were well represented with participants from Victoria Police, SES, MFB, CFA, DELWP and it was a maiden voyage for Coast Guard who entered into the team event for the first time.

To help celebrate the accomplishment of competing in Australia’s biggest vertical race, the CFA Sports & Recreation Association (CFASRA) created sports baseball caps for all participating CFA members. The caps were well received and appreciated by all along with the lollies provided to boost energy before and after the race.

The Eureka Stair Climb has become so popular with the Emergency Services that the event organisers have created 2 time slots that only members of an emergency service can compete in. The two sections are: Emergency Services – Climber, and Emergency Services – ‘Full Kit’.

Full Kit for fire fighters is completing the climb with structure PPC and BA, for Victoria Police it is full riot gear. The ‘full kit’ participants carry on average an extra 23kgs up the 1642 stair course.

Over 2000 participants of the 2015 Eureka Stair Climb have raised more than $250,000 for Interplast and Whitelion which helps the disadvantaged of our community and around the world to live better lives.

Once again CFA did extremely well in a very competitive field coming 2nd in the Emergency Services – Climber section and 6th in the Emergency Services – Full Kit section.

The CFA Sports & Recreation Association would like to congratulate all members who rose to the challenge and represented CFA whilst raising funds for two very worthwhile causes.
