Evacuation at Roxburgh Park
CFA and MFB are on scene at a gas leak at a Roxburgh Park shopping centre.
Firefighters were called to the incident on Somerton Road at 1.10pm and found a large gas main (150mm) had been ruptured by workmen.
More than 500 people were evacuated from the shopping centre as a safety precaution due to the strong odour of gas in the building.
An Advice message was issued warning local residents to stay indoors.
The gas company isolated the leak at 3.10pm and firefighters have been ventilating the shopping centre.
CFA used the gas detection unit throughout the building and has recently deemed the centre safe to reopen.
