Factory fire at Traralgon warehouse
Early this morning (20 October) CFA battled a large structure fire at second hand warehouse, Junk n Dishoarderly in Traralgon.
Firefighters were called to the scene at McMahon Street at 5am.
On arrival the warehouse was well alight.
District 27 Operations Officer Chris Loeschenkohl said on arrival firefighters were alerted by neighbours there may have been an occupant in the building.
“Crews worked extremely well together in formulating a plan and fortunately there wasn’t anyone inside,” said Chris.
“It took approximately an hour for firefighters to get the blaze under control.
“Firefighters will be on scene for an extended period along with Fire Investigators who will determine the cause of the blaze.
“A large number of items inside the building made access for firefighters difficult.
“This incident provides a timely reminder to the community to ensure possessions aren’t blocking exits and internal pathways
“When you’re thinking about your fire escape plan, make sure you consider access in case of an emergency.”
Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police were also in attendance.
10 CFA vehicles from Traralgon East, Traralgon West, Morwell and Glengarry were in attendance which included the Traralgon Ladder Platform.
