There’s a free jumping castle, face painting and show bags to keep the kids happy, and local children are running stalls to sell doughnuts, soft drinks and more.
As well as a BBQ run jointly by CFA and SES volunteers, there will be some some great prizes up for grabs, donated by local companies, including a BBQ, Navman GPS unit, an Apple iPad Mini, a Simpson clothes dryer, a coffee maker and a slot car racing set.
Like last year’s Fun Day, there will be a stage showcasing local singers and Ritchies Supa IGA will have lots of extra specials in store.
Mandy Hawke, manager at Ritchies Supa IGA Cobram said, “This is a fantastic annual event to recognise the hard work done by our local CFA and SES volunteers, who support our community in emergencies.
“Last year’s Fun Day was a great event and the raffle raised $3000 for CFA and SES. Hopefully, we can beat that this year,” said Ms Hawke.
Mick Hilder, Captain of Cobram CFA brigade said, “We hope to use funding from the day to go towards the brigade’s contribution for our new Isuzu light tanker. I’d also like to say that CFA is very appreciative of Ritchies’ ongoing financial support of the Cobram brigade, through its Community Benefit program.”
SES Cobram Unit Controller John Stava said the Fun Day gives SES valuable community exposure, builds awareness and is an excellent recruitment opportunity. “The day raises valuable funds for the operation of our unit. This year we will use the funds raised to launch a campaign to establish a facility in Cobram. We are very appreciative of IGA for the support it provides,” Mr Stava said.
