Fatal house fire in Torquay
Torquay and other brigades were paged to a garage fire which spread to a double storey house on Sunday 10 Nov.
Multiple calls were being received and there were concerns people may have been trapped inside.
Locals and neighbours attempted to gain entry to the house but were driven back by the heat and smoke.
Brigades were responded from Torquay, Anglesea, Belmont, Corio, Geelong and Grovedale. A body has since been located on the property and is yet to be formally identified.
Torquay Captain placed a structure fire "Not yet under control" at 3:39am and a "Fire Stop" was placed on the job at 11:20am.
The cause of the blaze remains unknown at this stage however Police are not treating it as suspicious.
Arson and Explosives Squad detectives, an arson chemist and a CFA fire invesigator are currently examining the scene.
