Fire Action Week launches in Epping
Yesterday CFA Epping and Wollert brigades together with colleagues from DEPI, Parks Vic and MFB braved the rain to warn local community members in Epping North about the risks of grassfires in urban interface areas.
Fire Action Week is Victoria’s annual fire planning and preparation week, designed to create broader awareness about the risks, and the need for residents to take responsibility for their own safety during summer.
The community event was co-hosted by CFA and City of Whittlesea, who also know all too well the devastating and long-reaching effects that bushfire and grassfire can have on communities.
CFA Chief Officer Euan Ferguson welcomed guests and speakers including Minister for Police & Emergency Services Kim Wells, Craig Lapsley Emergency Management Commissioner, fire agency Chiefs and representatives, Whittlesea Mayor, acting CEO Whittlesea Council along with representatives from the local Aurora Community Association who are working hard to boost local awareness around fire risks.
Well done to all involved. Look out for more CFA events happening across the state for Fire Action Week, and in the lead up to summer www.cfa.vic.gov.au/events
