Just before 8am on Saturday 3 May, Warragul and Drouin brigades were paged to a reported building fire on the corner of Albert and Mason Sts in Warragul.

Warragul pumper could see a significant amount of smoke coming from that location while on route. On arrival at the scene, Incident Controller Paul Tandberg made a word back of a structure fire not yet under control and requested the Traralgon ladder platform to help them access the roof cavity of the single-storey building, the Mawarra School for students with disabilities.

It took crews just over an hour to bring the fire under control, with two adjoining buildings coming under threat from the fire, the Mawarra building sustained significant smoke and water damage.

CFA crews could then use the thermal imagng camera in the roof cavity to check for hot spots.

Fire Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
