A fire at a furniture shop in Kialla on Saturday morning is being treated as suspicious.

CFA was called to the shop and warehouse on the Goulburn Valley Highway about 12.20am where the 60 x 30 metre building was well alight.

Operations Officer Shane Sutton said the fire took about 50 minutes to bring under control.

“The aerial pumper from Shepparton was utilised to knock down the fire at the rear of the building and it made a huge difference to how quickly we were able to bring the fire under control,” he said.

OO Sutton said the fire was within the roof space of the store and there has been significant smoke damage throughout.

Eight trucks and a number of support vehicles from Shepparton, Kialla, Mooroopna and Tatura attended.

Police are investigating.
