Fire at North Shore wreckers yard
The good work of dozens of CFA firefighters has helped to contain a large fire to a wreckers yard in North Shore, Geelong.
Crews were called to the fire about 8pm where the 40 x 70 metre shed was fully involved in fire.
"Crews did a tremendous job to hold the fire in to the wrecking yard and bring it under control in around an hour," District 7 Operations Officer Mark Collins said.
During the incident, a Watch and Act message was issued warning residents in the area to shelter indoors with doors, windows and heating and cooling systems closed. Visit VicEmergency for the latest warnings and incident information.
Eight pumpers and two aerial firefighting trucks from Geelong City, Corio, Lara, Geelong West and Belmont attended.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
