Fire at Telstra Exchange
A fire has severely damaged Warrnambool’s Telstra Exchange and left around 60 thousand Telstra customers In the state's west and south west without landline and mobile phone services.
Crews were called to the site in Koroit Street just after 4.30am with the fire taking about an hour and a half to bring it under control.
Telstra has advised Triple 0 can be accessed by Telstra mobile customers - landlines remain unable to make any calls.
It says an "exchange on wheels" has been dispatched to Warrnambool, along with two "mobile satellite call on wheels" units.
It is unclear when full mobile and landline services will be restored.
5 crews from Warrnambool, Koroit, Ballarat fought the fire.
The exchange sustained around 60% damage. The cause of the fire will be investigated.
