Fire at Traralgon doctors' consulting suites
Update 7.10PM Examination of the scene has determined the fire occurred in a building housing specialist doctors suites, not a pathology practice as originally reported.
Update 4.29PM The fire has been declared under control by crews on scene. The building has been extensively damaged and emergency services will remain on scene for some time. The cause will be investigated.
3.39PM Ten CFA crews, including the large ladder platform truck have responded to fire in a building housing specialist doctors consulting suites within the grounds of the Latrobe Regional Hosptial at Traralgon.
Emergency services were called not long after 2.30 to a fire in the roof of the consulting rooms. Around 50 people were evacuated.
And advice message was issued for the area.
District 27 Duty Officer, Operations Manager Allan Rankin said the fire was confined to the stand alone building.
“There is no impact on the main hospital building, but the fire was burning quite freely in the roof of the doctors suites. Thankfully, however, everyone appears to have been able to escape safely,” Mr Rankin said.
Brigades from Traralgon, Traralgon West, Traralgon East, Morwell, Churchill, Yallourn North and Glengarry were on scene.
