More than 250 CFA fire brigades will open their doors to the community over the next few months to show Victoria how they protect lives and property all year round.

Brigades will make it a day to remember for families, with entertainment for the kids, fire training demonstrations, sausage sizzles and sharing valuable fire safety information.

CFA Chief Officer Steve Warrington said opens days are a great opportunity for brigades to unite, meet the local community and show Victorians how they can protect themselves, their families and properties from fire this summer.

Mr Warrington is encouraging everyone to attend their local open day to recognise the great work of CFA’s 60,000 members protecting lives and property in Victoria.

“These members work hard in a variety of challenging environments to support their community,” he said

“On behalf of CFA I would like to thank all CFA members for their commitment to keeping Victorians safe.”

More than 20 brigades will host events this month, with Yarra Glen and Malmsbury brigades leading the way this Saturday 3 September.

Yarra Glen brigade will be holding its open day at the local Ritchies IGA store where members will share information about getting prepared for summer. Captain Koala and Little Pat the fire truck will visit to entertain the kids.

Malmsbury brigade will be running its open day at the Malmsbury Motor Festival.

On Saturday 10 September, Romsey, West Wodonga and Wodonga brigades will welcome their communities for open day events.

Open days will run until the end of December.
