Fire destroys Dandenong business
A unit housing a business on Close Avenue in Dandenong was destroyed by fire around 5am this morning (8 Sept).
The nearby Court House will be closed this morning until further notice, due to smoke logging.
District 8 Rostered Duty Officer Andrew Turner said the unit was fully on fire when crews arrived.
“It was only a small area and firefighters attacked the fire from outside,” Mr Turner said.
“It took around three hours to get the fire and smoke filling adjoining buildings, under control.”
Firefighters also needed to safely manage asbestos found in the structure.
While police and fire investigators are yet to determine the cause, the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
Three trucks and a rescue vehicle from Dandenong, and a truck from Hallam attended.
