CFA fire investigators are at the scene of a fire that destroyed a house in Maiden Gully early this morning (27 October).

Firefighters were called to the mud brick house in Andrews Street about 1.15am.

The house was well alight when crews received the call.

Nine fire trucks attended the scene. It took about 35 firefighters from Maiden Gully, Bendigo, Kangaroo Flat, Golden Square and Marong 30 minutes to control the fire.

Crews remained on scene until 7am blacking out hot spots.

Incident Controller and Maiden Gully Captain David Mustey said while the mud bricks were still standing, the house was a total loss.

The fire reignited about 12.15pm today, with one tanker from Maiden Gully still at the scene.

Investigations are continuing.
