CFA’s fire investigators continue to work with police this morning (29 August), after a Springvale home was destroyed by fire last night.

Investigators are treating the fire in the single-storey home on Heatherton Rd as suspicious.

Two trucks from Springvale attended arrived on the scene around 8.25pm, finding the house fully alight. Firefighters took care to manage asbestos found in the house.

District 8 Rostered Duty Officer Paul Carrigg said firefighters needed to thoroughly search the home to make sure no one was inside.

“There was some conflicting information about whether or not someone was home at the time, so firefighters did a great job ensuring the property was vacant,” Mr Carrigg said.

The incident was under control by 9.15pm.
