Fire Investigation Training Session
Over twenty (20) CFA Fire Investigators attended the latest Victorian Association of Fire Investigators (VAFI) Training Session that was held on Thursday (26 June 2014) night at the Federation Training – Chadstone Campus.
The theme of the training session was the identification and awareness of electrical power industry assets along with vegetation clearance from power lines.
Prior to the commencement of the training session, participants were able to undertake a site inspection of the campus which contains real work training environments relating to electricity supply equipment and infrastructure.
The guest speakers from Federation Training and Energy Safe Victoria (Electrical) presented the following topics:
- Identification and awareness of electrical power industry assets
- Vegetation clearance from power lines and issues
The topics enabled the Fire Investigators to obtain a greater understanding and identification of the different types of electrical infrastructure assets along with the requirements of vegetation clearance around power lines.
A number of recent case studies where electrical infrastructure was identified as being involved in the ignition of fires were also presented.
