On Saturday 14December, Traralgon Fire Brigade ‘C’ shift, volunteers and Gippsland Region Community Education attended a fire safety day at Bunnings Traralgon.

The day was aimed at providing fire safety for kids and adults, with activities such as badge making, colouring, competitions and fire truck displays, whilst interacting with the kids and testing their fire safety knowledge with a quiz.

Throughout the day there were fire safety information sessions to further people's knowledge about bushfire and home fire safety. The burn table was used to give those living in the rural community and on the urban fringe knowledge of fire behaviour and and understanding of the importance of preparing your property before fire season.

Captain Koala thoroughly enjoyed the day seeing Santa and some animals in the petting zoo, although the best part for CK was helping the kids with fire safety activities with lots of high fives and hugs.

A big thank you to Jo and Rachel from Bunnings Traralgon for inviting CFA to attend and participate in this fire safety day. We look forward to assisting with the event next year.
