On Saturday 9th September, Captain Koala helped Fireman Sam celebrate his 30th birthday at Toys R Us at Fountain Gate Shopping Centre, Narre Warren.

The day was full of activities and giveaways for the children, which included balloons, stickers, CFA fireman helmets and Mattel Fireman Sam helmets.

Hallam fire brigade attended with a fire truck and five members to help entertain the children who had a ball climbing onto the truck, learning to hold a fire hose and getting to have their photos taken with the firefighters.

Children were able to complete colouring sheets of Fireman Sam and Captain Koala inside the store and they also had the opportunity to dress up in junior turn out gear and pose with either Captain Koala, Fireman Sam, or both for photos.

Kylie Love, a CFA presenter also held story time where the children could sit on the mat and have a home fire safety story read to them.

This event was a joint project with CFA South East Region community safety team, CFA Headquarters, Mattel Australia/New Zealand and Toys R Us.

The day was a huge success with around 600 family members attending and participating in the activities.
