As part of renovations to Guildford Fire Station's backyard, former Captain Ray Pattle asked his members to build a safety gate. This was to help provide a safe place for brigade family activities.

New recruit Mick Vovers volunteered to undertake the task.

After driving around various parts of Victoria and being bored with what he described as “beige fire stations” he took the opportunity to provide something a little different.

Mick, inspired by another Mick, Michelangelo has created ‘hand of God’ spraying water on the flames.  Not only has he built a safety gate but he has also created a lively topic of conversation amongst the community.
