Fiskville Inquiry Special Report tabled
Today the Parliamentary Inquiry into CFA’s Fiskville Training College tabled a Special Report to State Parliament relating to CFA’s production of documents for the Inquiry.
CFA has provided all documents requested by the Inquiry to the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office (VGSO). This is standard practice.
The VGSO has determined many of the documents may be subject to a claim of “executive privilege” by the Government, while others were not relevant to the terms of reference for this Inquiry. CFA had no influence over these decisions.
It is a matter for the Government to determine whether those documents can be provided to the Inquiry.
As previously stated, CFA is supportive of the Parliamentary Inquiry investigation. Our members put themselves in dangerous situations every day to protect Victorian lives and property, and their safety and wellbeing is always our number one priority.
Further public hearings for the Inquiry took place on Friday 6 November and Monday 9 November.
Nine parties gave evidence at the hearings, including representatives from Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB); Fire Protection Association of Australia; Monash Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health; and the University of Queensland.
Transcripts for these hearings can be viewed here once finalised by the Committee. The next set of hearings will be held on 19, 20 and 23 November 2015.
