A number of CFA’s Fleet Operations staff have been honoured with awards at a recent Fleet Awards Night.

The event, which took place in December in Bendigo, honoured 11 members with Service Awards, National Medals and CFA Life Membership Awards. These awards recognised the diligent service and contributions these members have made to the CFA throughout their careers.

The cumulative years of service to the CFA and the community of the 11 members totalled over 300 years.

The awards were presented by Acting Chief Officer Garry Cook with assistance from Manager Fleet Operations Tim Smith.

Acting CO Cook said that the awards reflect the outstanding work done by our fleet staff across the state.

“I was very proud to present a number of our DMOs with recognition for their wonderful contribution to CFA over many years. National Medals, Life Memberships and Long Service awards for exceptional service were presented to people who have contributed to CFA in so many ways over many years.

“Apart for being vital in keeping CFA’s fleet capability at 100% readiness, they are the people who keep us all moving and are always never far away in our time of need, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year round.”

CFA’s Head of Fleet and Protective Equipment Danny Jones said the awards were a testament to the hard work of our fleet staff.

“DMOs are always ready to provide support to operational incidents and are often seen late at night making sure the fleet is ready for the next day’s work,” said Danny.

“It is great to see this dedication and commitment recognised though these awards.

CFA’s District Mechanical Officers are the team behind keeping CFA’s fleet serviced, safe and ready to respond. Working in a number of workshops across the state, our DMOs are there to ensure our fleet are kept safely on the road.
