From the Chair: Board Update
The new CFA Board held its first Ordinary Meeting on Monday.
It was a positive and productive meeting, with all members looking forward to addressing some of the challenges facing CFA at the present. There is no doubt as to the long-term commitment from members of the Board to CFA’s role in our communities.
At the meeting, the Board decided to appoint Steve Warrington as Chief Officer for six months. This is a great outcome for CFA. Steve has served CFA for more than 30 years and is passionate about the long-term welfare of CFA and its people. As a long-standing Deputy Chief Officer, Steve is committed to advancing frontline service delivery and is strongly placed to lead CFA’s ongoing fire season preparedness.
I am sure you will join with me in supporting Steve in the time ahead.
As I announced recently, four volunteers have now been appointed to CFA’s Board. They bring a great variety of background and skills to the Board and to CFA. Read here for more information on new appointees Timothy Young, Lynda Hamilton, Peter Shaw and Hazel Clothier.
With the full Board now in place, we will schedule meetings at brigades, offices and training grounds to meet as many members and staff as possible. We will also continue the tradition of holding Board meetings in CFA regional locations.
I look forward to keeping you updated on Board matters of interest to members and staff.
From CFA Chair Greg Smith AM
