Residents at the Caladenia Nursing Home in Kilmore were evacuated following a gas leak at the facility this morning, 7 December.

CFA was called to the incident in Anderson Road just after 9.00am.

More than 30 residents were relocated to the neighbouring Kilmore and District Hospital after the 50mm gas main was ruptured by a backhoe.

CFA brought the incident under control in about an hour and remained on scene until the gas company arrived.

Four trucks and a number of support vehicles from Clonbinane, Kilmore, Seymour, Wallan, Wandong and Woodend were on scene.
