On Friday 12 September a closing ceremony was held at the City of Casey council chambers for 28 multicultural students from Gleneagles Secondary College in Endeavour Hills as part of the City of Casey Get Involved Project.

The project was run over eight weeks and involved City of Casey, CFA, SES, Life Saving Victoria and Victoria Police. It started with a field trip with the students to Hallam brigade, Victorian Police Academy and SES offices in Narre Warren where each agency/organisation delivered sessions about their role in society as well as fire and personal safety.

Over the following weeks sessions were held in the classroom where the students were taught about home fire safety, emergency kits, rights and responsibilities, water safety and a first-aid session.

During today's ceremony the students were presented certificates of participation by Casey Mayor Geoff Ablett and were treated to a lunch organised by the council.

A number of the students have shown an interest in becoming CFA volunteers.
