Get Moving Challenge
Get Moving is back! We have made some enhancements to the program based on feedback from last year and we can’t wait to get it underway.
Get Moving 2016 will be a six week long competition open to all CFA members. Participants will have the choice of bringing their own pedometer to the competition, using a mobile app, having a CFA pedometer supplied, or taking up the exclusive offer of 20% off to purchase any Garmin product to track your steps. The Get Moving challenge encourages members to increase daily physical activity levels, ultimately increasing the number of steps taken each day. This year the competition will run from Monday 3rd October – Sunday 13th November with winners announced by 25th November 2016.
Teams will be formed of between 5-10 members, including a team captain. Each team member will receive a participation pack inclusive of a step tracker poster to record their daily steps. On a weekly basis the captain will report back the team’s step-count to Get Moving.
Award and prize categories this year have been expanded and include:
- Highest step count overall – individual and team
- Most consistent number of steps – individual and team
- Biggest improver – individual and team
- Highest participation rate – District
The benefits of physical activity are endless; walking improves health and wellbeing in a multitude of ways, boosting energy, improving mood and reducing the risk of chronic diseases. Being active everyday also helps to improve mental health, reduces your risk of Type 2 Diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and helps to improve sleep and manage weight.
Again this year the competition will include weekly challenges that encourage participants to make small changes to improve other aspects of their health. Teams or individuals who participate in the weekly challenges can win prizes by sharing a photo on the Get Moving Facebook page.
