Get Moving registrations are open
Register your team in the Get Moving Challenge before registrations close this Sunday 18 October.
We have had a great response so far and have some junior teams join the competition too this year. Many participants have also taken up the offer for the 20% discount on any of the Garmin wearable products. Don’t forget that this year there is also a District shield for the highest registrations – where will this end up? Get Moving and register now for the challenge!
Teams of 5-10 members people can now register to compete against other CFA teams from all over Victoria, aiming to increase physical activity levels and take the highest number of steps each day for six weeks. The challenge encourages participants to motivate their teammates to take more steps and compete for a range of prizes, whilst increasing physical health and fitness.
Walking is a great way to increase health and fitness. Not only does it decrease your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, weight gain and some cancers, walking has also been found to increase bone strength, balance, heart and lung health, immunity and muscular power. Plus, it is easy and free!
Participants have the choice of bringing their own pedometer to the competition, using a mobile app, having a CFA pedometer supplied, or taking up the exclusive offer of 20% off to purchase any Garmin product to track your steps.
Each registered team member will receive a participation pack and the team will also receive a poster to record their team members’ weekly and total steps to see who is taking the most steps!
Team captains will be responsible for receiving their team members’ weekly steps, recording them and sending them in- the top teams will appear on a leader board each week and there are prizes up for grabs for teams who take the most steps (on average, depending on team participant numbers) over the competition, as well as prizes for improvement and consistency.
This year is the inaugural year of the Distract Get Moving Participation Shield! The District with the highest participation rate will hold the shield and the honour of the most active District for the next 12 months.
Registrations for the Get Moving Challenge are open until Sunday 18 September, with the competition running from Monday 3 October until Sunday 13 November. But get in quick because places are limited! Here is how to register:
