A grass and scrub fire broke out just after 5pm yesterday approximately five kilometres from Wedderburn (district 20) in Victoria’s North.

Due to the hilly terrain, additional resources were requested to ensure the 100-acre (approximate) fire was controlled quickly.

Sixteen CFA units and aircraft were used to attack the fire, which was under control just after 6.30pm.

CFA units were also on scene this morning to ensure there were no flare ups.

With weather warming up across the state and as we head into Fire Action Week commencing tomorrow, this is a timely reminder for all Victorians to get prepared for the summer fire season, whether you’re staying home or going on holidays.
