Crews from 3 CFA brigades responded this afternoon to a roadside grassfire that spread into paddocks

Around 2:45pm, a passer by dropped into the D11 headquarters to advise of a fire on the side of the Princes Hwy, Lucknow just east of Bairnsdale. It was located near the Archery Park. A firecall was created and Bairnsdale brigade paged.

Initial wordback was for make tankers 2, as the fire being on the east side of the road was spreading into a farming paddock.

Sarsfield and Mount Taylor brigades responded with Bairnsdale crews to put out and black out the fire. Police attended for traffic control as fire crews were working on the highway and needed to get in and out of paddocks for the fire fight and to refill with water.

Victoria Police are investigating the cause.
