Sunday 9 November 2014, Greta Fire Brigade members along with local community gathered at the tiny shed that the brigade calls home.

Surrounded by the many championships trophies on the walls, members who chose to receive a service award were presented medals by Operations Manager John Bigham and Captain Mal Dinning. The awards were issued to members who had 20 years of service and above with Ron Hooper (ex Captain and Deputy Group Officer) also receiving brigade life membership.

This was the first time that the rural brigade located in Ned Kelly country had issued formal recognition to members for service to the local community. Organising these events doesn’t come easy, but Greta’s Brigade Management Team along with hard working secretary Kaylene Hooper should be proud of the effort they put in.

Greta Fire Brigade also put the volunteer resources (consisting of banners and other items) from District 23 HQ to good use by decorating the internal and external area of the station.
