Hampton Park hazmat incident
UPDATE 2:40pm: The hazardous gas leak in Hampton Park is now safe.
Three CFA trucks were called to the scene on the intersection of Hallam South Road and Fordholm Road at about 10:40 this morning.
The cause was believed to be an excavator which ruptured a gas main.
District 8 Operations Officer Rick Reid said crews set up a 100 metre exclusion zone and nearby shops were evacuated as a safety precaution.
“Access to a nearby medical centre was restricted and less than ten people from the area were moved out,” Mr Reid said.
An All-Clear Advice message has been issued advising people in the area to open their windows and doors to ventilate their homes. All roads are now open.
Crews remained on scene until the gas company isolated the leak and the scene was safe at 1.40pm.
